I just get "lookup failed" for every location value I enter. I tried manually inputting latitude and longitude and that didnt work either. Seems this is a dead app. Should be removed from app store, at least for Lion users.

Continues to be flakey and unreliable, with updates regularly breaking it. Developer seems uninterested. Avoid this app.
Ive purchased WeatherMan for previous computers Ive owned for the past 10 years or so, and Ive always found it to be good-looking and easy to use. Ive tried a lot of free desktop weather software and Chrome/Firefox plugins, but this is by far the most handy and functional weather app yet. Using WeatherMan is much more convenient than sifting through a weather website for relevant information and having to bypass ads and multiple pages to get weather information and a forecast. Very much worth the small price.
Very odd, this. The lite app is wonderful. Great bells and whistles. This one is useless. It wont let me change locations, and as I dont live in Flint, Michigan, I cant get useful weather reports. Please, providers, fix whatever the deuce is wrong. I reinstalled the free app and trashed the paid one. It only cost a buck, but cmon, fix it already.
Ive been using Macs since early 86 and Dean Davis weather program has been on them for years and years. Nothing but high praise for the quality of his programming. Occasionally the source documents change formatting and the parsing calls have to be rewritten but Dean does that relatively quickly so his customers dont experience much down time. Highly recommended. Its a bargain at 99¢.
The forecast and extended forecast features have stopped working and the ap has become flakey, requiring force quits. Ive used WeatherMan for years, but its time to switch unless these issues are resolved.
Ive used various versions of this for years and it has generally worked OK but now I cant get the forecast to work.
Forecast stopped working for me too. After Ten site says there is a 2.51 update but it isnt at the app store?
Both forecast AND extended forecast have mysteriously stopped working foe me also.
Great app; Ive used it every day for years. I thought after the forecasts stopped Id have to find another product, but I understand Dean will have a fix shortly. Good to know and Ill look forward to it. Thanks for an excellent software. I appreciate it..
I love this app. Nice colored picture in the Menu Bar, quick accurate information at your finger tips.
Been using Weatherman for years, mostly because I love how you can keep track of many locations at one time. Each panel shows current weather, forecast, extended forecast and radar images (just to name the most common features) for each location. So for my wife you frequently travels to Chicago, my mom in New York, mother-in-law in California and my favorite fishing spots throughtout the country, I can see the weather for all of them at one time. The developer has been good about fixing bugs, too, which most of the time are due to the changes in how the weather service broadcasts its information, not problems with the software. So for the patient among us, he always comes through and keeps this great app alive. Thanks, Dean. Eddie
After upgrading to 10.8.x the graphics on the "forecast" and "extended forecast" windows have stopped working for unknown reasons. This happens in all my 4 Macs. I hope the developer fixes this glitch. I have been using this application for years and I love it, would like to keep using instead of changing to some other. Tried downloading and re-installing, same problem. I will definetly change my "star" rating after this is fixed. … FOLLOW UP … THE DEVELOPER WAS VERY ATTENTIVE WITH EMAILS AND THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED … IVE BEEN USING THIS WX APP. FOR YEARS AND JUST LOVE ITS SIMPLICITY AND EASE OF USE. THANK YOU - IM INCREASING MY RATING 5 STARS
Ive been using Weatherman for a long time and I think its great! The recent down time was not the developers fault (had to wait on Apple, which is a problem Apple is working to speed up). I see no problems with the newest upgrade, v.2.5.2 on my Intel Mac using ML v.10.8.2……..smooth. Excellent App.
Took me five tries and this is the first desktop/menu bar weather Ive found thats actually accurate when I compare the info with local weather reports. Plus a ton of information right off the menu bar.
I purchased this app since the reviews were mostly positive. But I disagree with the positive reviews. I emailed the developer thru the website AND separately from the contact email address and have not heard back from the developer at all in the 1 week that I sent both emails. The weather icon does not display in the menu bar or in the dock. It is only a yellow question mark. Additionally the temperature is off and even though it says it was updated a few minutes ago, it does not update. You can click update now in the menu bar icon and it does not. It seemed from the pics of the app in the app is filed with info, but I am not able to get the info in the app as displayed in the preview pics. I live in the 8th largest city in the USA, so it is not because I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Non existent tech support from the developer. I am still trying to find a decent weather menu app that will actually update the temperature correctly, surprisingly difficult to find a working app. The price of $0.99 for this app is NOT worth it.
Crashes constantly and resets its preferences, losing all my customizations and cities. Gave up on this, not worth the hassle.
I have been using this app for quite a while. What I like the most is the amount of information that is included with this app. The small icon on the menu bar can be customized to show just what you want. First is shows a picture icon that reflects the actual outside weather which is a sun or a moon and clouds or no clouds. Then it has a small icon that will incicate any weather alerts. You click on the icon and it gives you all you need to know for areas from here to the next state, like flooding or snow or whatever. Then is has his and lows and you can have it in writing cloudy or clear. The dock shows a slightly bigger icon with the same info as above, but if you click on it it will give you even more info like radar maps. I have not seen a better weather app anywhere especially for the price. It is very apparent that this developer has put a lot of time and effort into this app.
Its a great app in concept, but I regrettably had to uninstall it tonight after spending many, many months waiting for it to improve. With the most recent version, I noticed the fan running almost constantly in my MacBook Pro; checking Activity Monitor, WeatherMan is always using 99% of the processor. I cant burn up my laptop over a weather app, unfortunately, so it must go. This comes after enduring a myriad other issues with the app which were livable (if not great). But this processor-hogging was the last straw. Im looking for another app.
Attention other developers: please make a mac-worthy version of this app and youll have a ton of customers right away! By mac-worthy I mean having clean Retina graphics, no crashes, not becoming unresponsive if a full screen app is used and absence of a general clunkiness of behavior. However, please retain all the information this app displays which is why I stick to it despite its general lacklustre feel. You can also add hourly forecasts :) Update: Please please bring retina screen compatibility! This works well on both on my old 32 bit snow leopard machine as well as on mountain lion, apart from the little bug where it freezes after using the full-screen mode in certain apps lime Skim and needs to be invoked again using a launcher/Finder. Old review: This is a worthy replacement for WeatherDock, and the best menu weather app in the store that I know of. It pulls a lot of details from the weather service and I find it to be one of the more useful apps on my machine. I wish that it also had an option to view an hour-by-hour forecast.
